I can't believe that I am even showing this chaotic mess of a closet;) I should just stick with the close-ups and pretend to be one of those fake moms whose children have perfectly organized rooms and never make messes! I decided that some serious organization with a flair of cute was in order for my children's room. Enter IKEA and some fabulous toy bins and then some vinyl labels to make it easy for everyone to pick things up and put them where they go.

T-Shirt Vinyl!

For this year's family reunion I decided to venture out there and try my hand at t-shirt vinyl. I wanted to wait to share until I could see how it held up under repeated washings and other such abuse by children;) I am pleased to report success!

Due to the process involved in applying the vinyl to shirts I am still working out the cost for doing this, but I will post pricing soon. I just wanted to show off the shirts and my amazing family!

My new favorite is making tiles. Here is one I just put together. My awesome mother saw an idea for hanging tiles somewhere out there in blogland using binder clips. I didn't believe it would work, but it totally does! I can't take credit for the idea, but I can sure pass it along and rock it on my tiles, right? Love it!

A Perfect Beginning

When I heard that a friend of mine was tying the knot I just knew I would be making something fun! Her best friend (and my friend as well!) wanted to have this sign made and a set of monogrammed goblets to go with it. The picture of the goblets isn't that great, but the initials are there in etched glass (papyrus font) and the wedding date is below the initials. I also included a copy of the Tradition of the Goblets. (If you want a copy of that you will have to email me...)

I was a little unsure about a gray sign, but I absolutely love the way that it turned out. I think it may just be my new favorite color to work with.

I found the cutest idea for what to do with all your make-up here. I decided to take my own spin on things and made this version of it. This is a 12x12 piece of sheet metal. I adhered scrapbook paper to it and the applicable name. Taylor was so surprised and I helped her figure out what to do with some of her make-up. I just love new ideas for old problems, don't you?

I know, it is not Christmas time. Today is Easter! I guess since I never got around to making any Easter stuff this year (bad Toshia!) I will have to re-visit the birth of Christ on the day we celebrate His resurrection.

This is a board that I made for my mom (and I even sewed all the stockings, too!) a couple of Christmases ago. She loves to be reminded of her 11 children and her love of Christmas so she leaves it hanging up all year long.

(P.S. the OCD in me just realized that the stockings are hung out of order...I feel like I should go back to my mom's house, fix it, and take another picture....not gonna do it. That would be crazy of me...right?)

I am so excited that the sun has been shining the last couple of days! Living in the Pacific NW has its advantages and the ratio of sunny days to rainy days is not one of them! The rain helps the plants to a point, but I have learned in the last couple of years that there really is such a thing as too much rain. This flower box hangs on a friend's porch--this is the coolest re-purposing of an old window that I have seen. Vinyl is so much fun!

House upon a rock

An oldie, but a goodie! This is actually the very first vinyl design that I cut and it is proudly displayed over the television in my parent's home. I was looking at it today and thought about how cool it was that it is still looking just as good as the day I cut it over 3 years ago! I love doing vinyl and although I have made a few mistakes with things in the past it has all been a learning experience that I look forward to each time.

Don't forget about vinyl as an option if you ever want to add a little something to your walls!

A friend called in a favor the other day and needed some help for her son's birthday. He was turning 18 and she wanted to make him a goody jar with a fun quote on it. She asked me to do something with this quote that would be "manly." Haha, guess that means scripty fonts were out! This is what I came up with it and I love that I did the "small" small. It is fun to use some creativity with little sayings.

Another menu board

As long ago promised this is the menu board that I made for myself. It matches other things I have done in the same space (example: Memo Board). I attached this sheet metal to a board that I spray painted (I was lazy and didn't even sand it!) Then I used a staple gun and some ribbon to hang it. FYI-the staples are in the back of the board, not the wall! I sat down with my recipes and decided on a bunch of meals that I like to make and my family likes to eat. Then I printed out lovely labels with my bff the label maker and it was the perfect size to go on some magnet strips. Now when my kids ask what's for dinner I simply point to the wall. I made this several months ago and can you believe that I am still using it?!

Bunco Prizes

In January it was my turn to host the fabulous Bunco group that I get to be a part of. Of course I had to throw in a few prizes that involved vinyl! One of the prizes was this menu board, but as the "consolation" prize for all the non-winners I entered their names in a drawing for this fun vinyl design to go on their kitchen wall. I love how it turned out!

Checkers Tile

Always one for trying to keep kids busy, this was a must have! I took a 12x12 tile added a grid made out of vinyl to make a good sturdy "board" for checkers. With rowdy boys those flimsy cardboard ones don't hold up too well around here. I even went the extra "mile" and made their checkers pieces by stamping their names onto metal washers. Word of advice, if you are a crazy perfectionist don't attempt to do this! (Hence no pictures of said pieces...)

Family Home Evening Box

There are never too many ways to organize and have fun with vinyl! This is a box designed for hanging files that has been "re-purposed" to become a FHE organizing tool. The idea is to use this box to store all the stuff you might need: scriptures, resource manuals, song books, pens, paper, pictures, etc. It is very easy to customize it's use to your needs!

Some lucky Star Wars fans I know got pretty fantastic treasure boxes for Christmas this year...these were boxes found in the office organization section of the store and seemed the perfect place to put all the little treasures that boys seem to think they need to have! Add a little vinyl flair with their names in a star wars font and you have a treasure box they will love and use for years to come.

This was some vinyl that I did for a friend who wanted to add a little something to her house around the holidays. This one was for Thanksgiving (obviously!) I did the phrase and then the leaves were separate so she could lay them out however she wanted to.

First Aid Tote

One of the fun things I get to do is help out the women's organization of our church with some of the monthly activities and "crafts." This month we are focusing on first aid preparation. My job was to come up with some ways to organize the supplies in your house. This is my example for the upcoming activity of what the ladies can take home. I have a whole bunch of ideas for organizing, but this is probably the simplest and most universal. I found these red "cleaning" totes at the store on clearance. They screamed First Aid at me and I snagged up the remaining 9 red ones. Add some vinyl and the fabulous rubbermaid "throw away" containers with red lids (must match...CDO...) and some ziploc bags and wah-lah.

This just goes to show that you can use vinyl on practically anything around your house. I love labels and organizing. It makes my heart go pitter patter!

A little belated Christmas is always fun! Each of these letters was designed to go on a set of 4"cubes. Each cube gets one letter. There are enough here for 8 sets. There are 8 people out there who are about to get some belated Christmas gifts:) I saw the cubes and my friend painted them a dark red. The ivory vinyl will look fantastic on that!

I made this frame for a friend of mine who is getting married. I have the same vinyl design over my bed on the wall. I just love it! This frame was just a simple 11x14 one, but you could do it on anything! I picked up one of those suckers shaped like lips to go with it. Such fun!

The LDS church's youth program always has an annual theme. The theme for the year 2011 comes from the 13th Article of Faith. I was asked to create this subway word art for a project the girls will make at their summer camp. It turned out so cute! I don't know where the original example came from that I was given to follow, so I can't give credit or claim credit either! I changed around the fonts from what I was given and a couple other minor details and I think it turned out fabulous!

Family Home Evening Board

Here is as Family Home Evening board that I made a while back. I made several as gifts for friends, too. I guess I never posted it! There are a million different ideas (ok, maybe not a million...) for these type of boards so the possibilities are endless! I helped someone make a board that said "Let us gather in a circle" instead. It was so cute! I just made the tags out of paper and stamped them, but I have seen them done as wooden tags with vinyl names on them.

I promised my boys I would do something for them to have a place to hang/display their school work and this is what I came up with. Simple, but effective! My husband says they told me the wrong quote, but since I never professed to be a Star Wars aficionado and this is what the boys asked for--it stays. There are Star Wars sayings all over in their room. My favorites are "I've got a bad feeling about this" on the door and "Do or do not. There is no try." on the wall.

Sorry for the cruddy pictures, I was so excited with the turn out that I had to take a picture in the horrible evening light! With babies it's a wonder I got it done at all:) The vinyl is on the backside of the glass so you could write with either a dry erase or wet erase pen on the front what you are planning to make for dinner each day. Here is the final product for the Happily Ever After vinyl design. I love the way it turned out. I added a little something by distressing the edges and adding a little brown ink. The board is ivory and the vinyl colors are white and deep brown.

"Be Blocks" Completed

I snapped a quick picture of the blocks that my mom made using the "Be" vinyl designs. I think they turned out super cute! I am almost done with a couple of signs that I will post pics of soon and some Christmas projects are in the works, too!

***After a few inquiries I realized I have never posted a price or details on this project...sorry about that! I did the vinyl on this for a super saturday project. They used 3" cubes for all the words except for the "Be" cube is a 1.5"cube. The blocks were painted and this set has scrapbook paper modge podged on the "blank" sides and some paper flower and other little sparkly things added to jazz it up. The vinyl for this would be $10 (don't forget, if you are ordering in bulk there is a discount!) Happy creating!***

I heard this phrase awhile ago and I knew that I had to do something with it. At work one day they were getting rid of some hideous and outdated artwork so I snagged up a nice turquoise frame with ugly art in it knowing it would come in handy. A little bit of black spray paint, some brown packing paper, ribbon, paper flowers and vinyl lettering and it was now re-purposed into the memo board now hanging in my kitchen--love it!

Christmas Advent Calendar

This was a fun idea I was asked to help recreate last year for an advent calendar a friend was making. The numbers were applied to the back of a spray painted smooth pizza pan she got at the dollar store and made a fun little magnet to move each day until Christmas! I loved the the numbers look like a Christmas tree!!
